Manufacturing perception

At the periphery of coverage in English language media this morning, dominated as it is by results from the US mid term elections, are reports from Gaza. And there is what looks like a typical contrast between a UK and a US version. So, the Guardian reports "Israeli kill 18 in Gaza", including 8 children killed in their sleep, with 40 more wounded, all civilians, and a huge outpouring of anger at the morgue; while AP reports "Hamas urges attacks on US targets", with scarcely a mention of the deaths and no mention that many of them were sleeping children.

P.S. 9 Nov: reporting on this issue improved over the next 24 hours, with US sources reporting the deaths, and UK press reporting Hamas calls for revenge.
